What is Spires of Azeroth?
Spires of Azeroth is a free roguelike deckbuilder inspired by World of Warcraft Classic. You choose one of nine classes, draft cards from that class's spellbook, climb a spire through 40 zones, and fight bosses like Ragnaros, Onyxia and C'Thun. It runs in a browser with no download or login.
Is Spires of Azeroth free to play?
Yes. The game is completely free: no ads, no login, no microtransactions and no paid card packs. The source code is open source under the MIT License, and the project is an unofficial, non-commercial fan work, so there is nothing to buy.
Do I need to download Spires of Azeroth?
No. The version on this site runs in a modern browser at /play/. If you prefer an app, the GitHub releases page has Windows, macOS, Linux and Android builds. Browser and desktop saves are stored separately, so progress does not transfer.
Can I play Spires of Azeroth on my phone?
Yes. The game runs in modern mobile browsers and uses tap-and-drag targeting for cards and potions. A larger screen makes card text easier to read, but a phone is enough to finish fights. An Android build is also available from GitHub.
Is Spires of Azeroth related to World of Warcraft?
It is an unofficial fan project set in the world of Warcraft Classic, not a Blizzard product. World of Warcraft, Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment are trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., and all game art, models and sounds belong to Blizzard. It is not endorsed by Blizzard.
How does progression work between runs?
Every run pays into your account. Clearing an act gives +1 talent point, beating the final boss gives +5, and each class caps at 51 points. XP from floors, acts and victories levels that class, and levels 1, 2 and 3 unlock three extra cards. Progress saves in your browser.
Which class should a beginner play first?
Start with the class you know best from Classic, because each class's resource and rotation become card mechanics you will recognise. If you have no preference, Warrior is the most direct: Rage, stances and big weapon hits. Hunter is comfortable too, since a Guardian pet can soak single-target damage.
Where can I find the source code or report a bug?
The code lives on GitHub at github.com/Chrisl252/spiresofazeroth under the MIT License. You can read every card and zone data file, run the game locally with the included dev server, or open an issue to report a bug or leave balance feedback.
